GreenLife manufacturing base in Alataw Pass of Xinjiang, China
Integrated solution provider GreenLife announced that it had completed the first construction phase of its new manufacturing base in Alataw Pass of Xinjiang, China, and the facility was officially opened to business on September 22, 2022.
Alataw Pass at the China-Kazakhstan border is the largest land port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. It locates in the center of Eurasia and receives more than six freight trains from both ends of the continent every day. GreenLife’s new facility is located at the Alataw Pass Bonded Zone, close to the freight train station.
Investment driven by local customer desires
Built on an area of 100,000 m2, the state-of-the-art production base is planned with four highly automatic manufacturing workshops to produce grain steel silos, steel structure welded parts, grain handling machines, and modern agriculture equipment for China’s Xinjiang region, the Central Asia countries, and the nearby markets.
The first phase installed 53 sets of dedicated production systems to produce different parts such as wall sheets, roof sheets, reinforcement, etc. to form GreenLife’s robust silos and introduced advanced production technologies such as CNC machining centers, welding robots, etc. to produce steel structure parts. All the manufacturing tools in GreenLife’s Alataw base are the same as those work in its headquarters’ workshops.
The investment decision made on April 2020 was driven by the desires of local customers and the challenging market environment when COVID-19 started to overwhelm our world, and producers in the agri-food chain began suffering pains from severe supply chain disruptions, sourcing issues and raised input costs.
Governments are encouraging investments in local food production to strengthen national food security systems, while local agri-food producers are looking for leading technologies, efficient logistics, and local supplies to help raise resilience in their production systems.
The investment underlined GreenLife’s efforts to bring advantages and value to local customers and its commitment to creating a secure, affordable, and sustainable food future and making life better for all.
Bring in advantages and value to local
Taking the geographical advantage of connecting China’s powerful supply chain to the Central Asia markets, and with improved clearance efficiency, increased traffic volume, favorable bonded zone policies, and foremost, being close enough to the markets, the Alataw base allows GreenLife’s customers in Central Asia and nearby markets to experience both local supply and global support. That means cut transport costs, shorter delivery times, increased supply chain efficiency, and global expert support.
Same as GreenLife’s other production base around the world, the Alataw facility will focus on solutions that meet local environmental characteristics and infrastructure conditions and help customers achieve their sustainable development goals.
“Customers need more local supply and leading technology-driven solutions to increase operation resilience,” said David Dai, President of Beijing GreenLife Co., Ltd – the subsidiary and operating arm of GreenLife Modern Agriculture Business.
“We believe the Alataw base fits the demand trends well and will help encourage more local food production and raise the agri-food productivity in Central Asia and nearby regions.” He added.
According to David, the steel silo manufacturing workshop will create 30 quality job opportunities for the local community and the steel structure production workshop will create another 30. Some skillful and experienced manufacturing professionals have joined the GreenLife team and found their positions to operate the high-end production machines and systems.
Currently, the base has a planned production schedule for 20 steel silos and 1,200 tons of welded steel structure parts that ordered by GreenLife customers.
